Blog Post By Scott Goble, 4 x IFBB Super Heavyweight Mr Australia. These days I find myself quickly identified as a bodybuilder, occasionally a little kid will ask me if I’m a wrestler and one once asked me if I was the hulk, but as a whole I walk around with a sign above me that says bodybuilder. Now I love my sport and I’m happy to represent it. I’m not ashamed to say I’m a bodybuilder, I’m happy to tell people why I do it and what it involves. I do however get a little put off by some of the stereotypes attached to the sport…no matter how much they are deserved. So this blog is all about how you can represent the sport and help break down these stereotypes. Acceptance: It’s really not hard to accept others, it takes very little energy and your tolerance of others different from yourself will make it easier for them to accept you. There seems to be an anti crossfit ground swell in the bodybuilding community. Why? Is it because you have seen some of them use terrible form? Please you can’t tell me you haven’t seen bodybuilders use terrible form, I see it daily. Is it because the training is only good for one thing? Crossfit competitions. What is bodybuilding training good for? Posing on stage. Sure we come in handy when people want to move house, but I’m betting those good crossfit guys would still be going strong after a couple of trips upstairs with furniture, while I would be huffing and...

Blog Post by Mark ‘Meataxe’ Taylor – NABBA Champion Throughout the years that I have been attending bodybuilding shows there are certain behaviours that unfortunately you seem to see over and over. Some are beginners, some are respected veterans, and some are just guys with a bunch of ‘hektik’ friends that think they know more than any judge. Either way, it’s unacceptable and it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of their fellow competitors, the officials and the audience. Take a lesson and try to avoid the following: Accusing someone of taking steroids (or other illegal substances), just because they are bigger than you, more conditioned than you, have a better body-part than you or place higher than you in a competition: I think this one is pretty self-explanatory and the incidences of it are numerous. If you’re a natural competitor in an untested federation – you knew what you were getting yourself into, don’t complain. If you’re a natural competitor in a tested federation – unless you have proof that would hold up in a court of law, hold your tongue. You just sound like an idiot telling everyone who will lend an ear, how ‘You know’ what he takes, or know someone that knows someone that sold him something. Even if your accusations are true, you just look like a sore loser for screaming drugs anyway. If you’re not a natural competitor and are competing in a tested federation – grow a set, I hope you get caught. Throwing your...

Blog Post by Clare Ross – INBA Figure Superstar Have you ever been in a place where you are tempted to look for answers that may make your journey easier? When you feel everything is so hard and so exhausting and you just would like things to run a little quicker or a little smoother. Sometimes, when you feel like this, it is really hard to take a step back and see what you really need. About a month ago I was in the middle of such a slump, I didn’t feel like training, eating right and sucking up my cardio. I couldn’t tell you what caused the dive in my motivation levels but I couldn’t remember feeling so down in the dumps about my chosen sport.  I was happy to stay at home, distracting myself with trips to the shops and generally enjoying not thinking about anything to do with body building. Whilst I have never felt like this before, it has been a long time coming. I really haven’t had a good melt down and felt like some things needed to be addressed in order for me to move on.  I wanted an easier journey, a magic life where I could eat what I wanted, train periodically and not have to ‘think’ so much about it all.  I did what I tell everyone else not to do; I started to look for shortcuts. Accordingly to a lot of people in this industry there are ‘easier’ ways. It is very tempting to sway in the direction towards claims that none of us need to perform any cardio or this concoction of their super supplements will get you lean. Some people in this...

Blog Post by IFBB Pro Ellena Reidie If you haven’t noticed recently, I have been quite forward and rude over on my fan page AussieFigurePro . Just like everyone I  have my days and just like any other female I get PMS. During this time I feel that I can rant and express my emotions freely without feeling like  im a total nut job. There is one side that wants to let it all out like vomit exploding from my mouth, then there is this other side that softly says “Ellena don’t be rude” So while I’m on a roll I began to think about the things that really make me question society, our industry and people in general. 8. Empty toilet roll left on the holder: How hard is it to change the roll? Just do it! P.S.  This happens in my house more than the gym… House wife rant! 7. Join my personal fan page and you win a free useless piece of nothing: I’m all for marketing yourself on social networks but bribing people is taking it to another level 6.  Interrupting me mid set: Um… Just be polite and wait! Actually No… How about piss off? 5. Farts…. The silent deadly ones: At 28 years old I still have a good giggle at a fart joke or a public slip up.. It’s the silent ones in the gym that kill me. With the amount of pre workout formulas, high protein diets, supplements, broccoli, kangaroo and potato in a bodybuilders diet and the fact that I run my personal training business out of a male dominant gym, I guess...
