Blog Post by Chris Jenkins, IFBB Bodybuilding Champion This months blog is coming at you from one of the many places I find my topics from … Facebook. Some twit has just posted he has spent near $1000 on supplements… So, curiosity getting the best of me, I took a look at his pictures…. Needless to say why I’ve felt compelled to write this blog. So let’s take a look at some of the things that the foolish, misinformed or OCD (I might be in this category) spend their hard earned cash stupidly thinking that they will soon be a Mr Olympia contender!!! Drugs … Honestly some of the numbers I hear people spend on drugs is absolute rubbish! I’m not here to give an opinion on whether or not you should use drugs, or advise how to use them… But I am here to say that if you need to spend a small fortune on them to have a respectable physique then maybe you should just try something else! When your spending money on bodybuilding related drugs, instead of paying bills or paying rent … I’m sorry … BUT DUDE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM! Supplements … Now I know a lot of people out there will be mad at this! But let’s be honest! There are some dud supplement products out! I was never a fan of this crazy full of stimulant pre workout products … Taking something that puts you in such a wired and drugged out state CANNOT BE GOOD! But at least they did what they were supposed to… Had you jumping round like 5 year old who’s had too...
Blog Post by Chris Jenkins: IFBB Athlete Blogging, Blogging, Blogging….. So this month’s blog… I’m starting completely blank here… No topic… I’m just going to go on a tirade and see what happens… I guess the first thing I’d like to say is that FitX is really shaping to a ripper of show, and The Aussie Grand Prix is going to have, from what I’ve heard around the traps, the best line up in years!!! In what is going be its 3rd year, it’s shaping up to become the premier Fitness event on the Calendar! If you have read my past blogs, then you will already know how much I love expos, and this one’s looking to be the best EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Activewear Online booth is again going to be crazy… Not only can you mingle with all the athletes…. All your favourite gear is going to be there to look at and try on!!!! Now let’s keep things real… Jill Taylor aka THE BOSS…. Activewear Online Managing Director is competing… And Judging from the Pics she going to light UP! GOOD LUCK JILL!!!! As Always OPTIMUM NUTRITION will have the booth rocking, and be handing out stacks of freebies!!!!!! You can catch me out booth booths or somewhere running in between! Now let’s talk the men’s Pro qualifier… Who’s my pick? I had dinner with Luke Schembri the other week, and the man is looking sharp… For me, he’s got this! But I’ve seen the pics floating on facebook, and there no way you...
Blog Post by Chris Jenkins – IFBB National Title Holder The fitness industry, and more so the competitive bodybuilders, figure and fitness athletes are a small community and it has become, and I will be blunt here, nothing but a bunch of bitchy whiny horrible little girls. And frankly it saddens me… You will from time to time see some light, some comradery, and see the small community we have come together for something positive. But generally every bastard is ripping on every other bastard. What a joke! So my question to you is…. How are you positively impacting our sport??? We’re looked at by the general public negatively, were made fun of in TV commercials, and every “unbiased” TV report makes us look like drug abusing idiots suffering from some type of backward anorexia disorder… So why can’t there be more respect for one another? All you need to is log on to facebook to see, someone posts a picture of themselves that they might like, and the sharks swarm! To make a negative comment about someone (that isn’t your mate, and you aren’t taking the piss out of – it’s the Aussie way!) is appalling. Who has the right to do that to anyone? I know this is a sport based on being “judged” but there’s a difference between judging someone, and being an assh@le! Some may remember months back, that a Pro picked on a one my best mates, and I had a dig at him in my friends defence… It may have ended with me being called a lot of...
Blog Post By Chris Jenkins – IFBB National Title Holder. Well, as I sit here typing this… I’m 4 and a half weeks out from my show, the IFBB Nationals, and since I’m tired, hungry (the usual 4 weeks out feeling) and have the flu I figure I’ll write about exactly that! So I’ll give you guys abut of an update of where I am with my prep, how I’m feeling, the very few things I’m thinking about right now, and take the opportunity to have a whinge about a whatever comes to mind while write this! Lol!!!!! Ok, where I am … As at this morning, I’m weighing 108.6kg… I’m training twice a day with weights… Which I’m finding better in every way! I’m doing my own prep for the first time this year, and it’s really working for me, lifting twice a day allows me to do way less cardio (sometimes none) than I’ve done in the past and let’s be honest lifting weights is fun and doing cardio sucks no matter what you do! With my diet for the want of round numbers I’m having 420g of protein, and 250g of carbs per day, I don’t have added fats, but with 420g of protein and most of coming from chicken and fish there’s gonna be some fats there… But as I’m doing my own prep, none of this is set in stone, and I gauge everything I do by how I’m feeling and looking… So if I’m feeling I “need” a carb meal, I’ll have one, if I feel I “need” a cheat meal ill have one. I think this is the fine line of what bodybuilding...
Blog Post by Chris Jenkins – IFBB National Champion Ok, so maybe it’s because I’ve started dieting … but for real… people in the gyms I frequent have really been slack with their gym etiquette. So I’m gonna lay it out flat what is not acceptable in the gym!!! ALWAYS WEAR B.O. BASHER! You would think this goes without saying in this day and age. BUT, apparently not!!! Last week I was subjected to what I can only describe at “the most putrid odour” I have ever come across in a gym. It smelt like I had my face in a sweaty homeless mans armpit. People need to breath to train and this is not on for a second! So I walked round the gym hunting this person down, because quite frankly no one has the right to smell like that in a public place let alone a confined gym space! I was gonna politely ask this person to shower and or leave… You might think I might have been over the top here, and who am I to ask anyone to leave the gym, well I think you should reserve your judgement till your exposed to the repugnant odour myself and the rest of the gym was. Luckily for the would-be stinker the odour filled the gym so well it was impossible to figure out who it was!!! Its pretty simple really, just wear bloody deodorant at the gym!!!! PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING! I know this may sound rich coming from an Activewear Online athlete, as I am blessed with having the awesome range of both Better Bodies and GASP gear to train in, but fair suck of the...
